English Quilling GuildThe Quilling Guild was organized in England in 1983 and was established for the purpose of revitalizing the old (almost ancient) art form of quilling, or paper filigree as it is sometimes called. An active roster of almost one thousand people, both men and women, are in the English guild. They have an annual meeting for the whole of the United Kingdom, and regular meetings in their smaller geographical areas, similar to our states. An International Guild Meeting was held in 1992, 1997 and in 2002. In each case there have been 20 or so people attend from the United States and Canada, as well as several other countries. Each English county displays quilling made by their members. Finished designs
are displayed and awards are made for "best" of several categories.
They publish a regular newsletter. You do not have to wait for an International Meeting to attend one of the annual meetings
if you are in England at the right time. |
